"Tipoli will get you hooked, no doubt about it. This one-button physics platformer will have you going back for more and more. The challenging and diverse level design, vibrant hand drawn visuals, and cute love story all make this game a sure…..
Rated 5/5 based on 3 customer reviews.
Lovin' the Tipoli love!!!
I love this game. I am hooked! I am a platform game junkie! Castle of Magic, Toki Tori, Hoggy, Soozis, etc., but Tipoli is definitely up there in the Top 3. Please! I am begging you! Come out with more levels. There's got to be more love quotes you can base the levels around!!! With all the hate and misunderstanding in the world today, cute games revolving around the keys of a successful and loving relationship like Tipoli are very welcome in my opinion. Beautiful design and graphics! A great idea all together. Definitely a winner and deserves nothing but five stars.
Entertaining and Addictive
Raivo Lindemann write:
I first played Tipoli when it was released for PCs at Cornell's game design showcase last spring, and had a lot of fun with it. The iPhone version is significantly more polished, and works well with the touchscreen. The gameplay is easy to learn, but difficult to master, and quite addictive. It should keep anyone engaged for quite a while. Highly recommended!
Simple, Intuitive, Engaging
The gameplay is simple: two balls are teathered to each other (by love, cute). One is sticky, the other bouncy. Tapping the screen swaps their positions, which leads to the intuitive mechanics of "walking" along a level by alternating between bouncing off it, then sticking to it. It's the elegant simplicity of the fundamental mechanics, that make each level interesting.
Some levels have parts you can't stick to, others have rotating balls that let you slingshot the pair up towards your goal. There are ten levels per stage, five stages and a Special Stage. By collecting small hearts found in certain levels, you unlock Challenge Levels in the Special Stage.
While the artstyle may or may not be to one's personal taste, they're functional and clear so you know exactly what's going on. The music, while fitting the theme, does become repetitive after a while.
On pure gameplay merits, Tipoli is a fun physics-based puzzle-platformer that manages to work it's core conceit with confidence and imagination. There is a genuine kind of mastery one can achieve through easy practice, though the game never expects too much (outside the Challenge Maps). Happy Accidents do happen, when one lets go of a surface at the wrong time, or a miscalculated bounce sends you into the air where you need to be, or alternatively, joyously plummets you to your doom. For that, checkpoints in the longer levels prevent any possible frustration.
For 99c, it's worth it.
